నా మాటవాల్మీకి రామాయణ సంగ్రహము 123 సం॥తరువాత ముద్రించుటకు నేను చేసిన ప్రయత్నం ఈరోజు సఫలమయినది . కీర్తిశేషులు శ్రీ చిలకమర్తి లక్ష్మీనరసింహము నాకు పెద తాతగారు. ఆయనకు సంతానము లేదు. ఆయనకు ఒకడే తమ్ముడగు స్వర్గీయ చిలకమర్తి కృష్ణమూర్తి కి ముగ్గురు కుమారులు, ఐదుగురు కుమార్తెలు. వీరందరూ చిలకమర్తి లక్ష్మీనరసింహము గారి ప్రీతి పాత్రులై ఆయనయందు అమిత గౌరవము కలిగి, తమ సంతానమునకు కవి చిలకమర్తిని గురించి, ఆయన సాహిత్యము గురించియు చెప్పేవారు. వారిలో మొదటి కుమార్తె స్వర్గీయ పెరుమాళ్ల సుబ్బలక్ష్మి మా తల్లిగారు. ఆమె నా బాల్యంలోనే వాళ్ళ పెదనాన్న గారి రచనలను పరిచయం చేసారు. లక్ష్మీనరసింహంగారి గయోపాఖ్యానము, కృపాంభోనిధి పద్యాలు పాడుతూ ఉంటే నాకు ఆశ్చర్యంగా ఉండేది. మా తల్లిగారి వలననే నాకు తెలుగు సాహిత్యంపట్ల అభిరుచి కలిగింది . స్వర్గీయ చిలకమర్తి లక్ష్మీ నరసింహం రచించిన "వాల్మీకి రామాయణ సంగ్రహం" 1922 లో ప్రచురణ జరిగనది. ఇప్పుడు ఆ పుస్తకము పాఠకులకు అందుబాటులో లేని కారణంగా మళ్ళీ ముద్రించాలని నిర్ణయించాము . ఈ సదవకాశం నాకు లభించడం నా అదృష్టం. మా తల్లిగారి మధుర స్మృతి చిహ్నంగా ఈ "రామాయణ సంగ్రహము" కొత్తదన
