Synopsis "Spirituality for Atheists, Agnostics, and Pagans: A lay Cistercian Reflects on six Questions Each of us Must Answer Before we Die. (a lay Cistercian Lectio Divina Series)"

There are six questions that each human must confront and attempt to answer before we die. I had these thoughts while driving past the Federal Women's Prison in Tallahassee, Florida, a couple of years ago. Don't ask me why these six popped into my mind. I don't know, and in a way, it doesn't matter why. I wrote this piece for myself, to organize my thoughts around the premise that, leaving God, Church, anything that smacks of religiosity, out of the discussion, what are six fundamental and core questions that, if answered, define what it means to be human. I want you to have the opportunity to give your thoughts on these six questions. It may be that you use the product of your journal for discussion. What it means is for you to say based on the assumptions you hold about what is true and meaningful. The six questions are: - What is the purpose of life? - What is your purpose in life? - What does reality look like? - How does everything fit together? - What does it mean to love fiercely? - You know you are going to die, now what? I assume that there is a spirituality innate in all of us, spirituality being the deepest part of who we are that both informs and propels us through life. It is our search for meaning.
