Gérard Daucourt, born on April 29, 1941 in Delémont, Switzerland, is a retired French Catholic bishop. Ordained a priest in 1966, he held various pastoral and academic roles, including his service on the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity from 1984 to 1991. He was appointed coadjutor bishop of Troyes in 1991, becoming the diocesan bishop in 1992. Later, he was bishop of Orléans (1998-2002) and Nanterre (2002-2013), until his retirement for health reasons in 2013

Among his publications are "Les sources et les grands larges" (2003), "Chemins vers l'unité: La communion dans l'Église" (2005) and "La miséricorde pour tous... sauf pour les prêtres?" (2015). These works, belonging to the theological essay genre, address topics such as the unity of Christians and mercy in the Church. In 2022, he published "Prêtres en morceaux", where he reflects on the difficulties and challenges that priests face today
