Rick Riordan (San Antonio, Texas, in 1964) is an American writer and teacher, known for his series of young adult novels that combine mythology and contemporary adventures. Before dedicating himself fully to writing, Riordan was a teacher of English and history in schools in Texas and California. His career took off with the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, started in 2005 with The Lightning Thief. This saga has sold millions of copies and has been adapted into movies and a television series. Riordan continued exploring various mythologies in series such as The Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, and The Trials of Apollo. In addition to his novels, he has created the publishing imprint "Rick Riordan Presents", which promotes works by authors who explore world mythologies. His agile and humorous style has brought mythology closer to new generations of readers.
