Alonso Cueto Caballero, born on April 30, 1954 in Lima, Peru, is a prominent Peruvian writer and journalist. He studied Literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and earned a PhD from the University of Texas with a thesis on Juan Carlos Onetti. Throughout his career, he has explored various narrative genres, from detective fiction to psychological inquiry, focusing on themes such as the persistence of the past and the complexities of family belonging.

Among his most notable works are "La hora azul" (2005), which received the Herralde Novel Prize, "El susurro de la mujer ballena" (2007), and "La pasajera" (2015). His novel "Grandes miradas" (2003) was adapted into a film by Francisco Lombardi. Cueto is considered a key figure in contemporary Peruvian literature, with a body of work that reflects significant episodes in the history of his country.
