Synopsis "Grendizer U: The Inception"

The origins of the great UFO Robot Grendizer comes to life in this manga based on the hit Anime Grendizer U.

Fans of mecha anime will love to discover the origins of one of the most heroic characters in the Mazinger series.

When a UFO from the Vega Alliance arrives on Earth, humanity faces its biggest threat in an oncoming Alien invasion. But their hope arrives in another Alien, Duke Fleed, a refugee of the planet Fleed who finds his home in Japan. Duke pilots the mighty Grendizer, a weaponized Mech to fight off the Vega forces. Along with his best friend and partner Koji Kabuto, they fight to free Earth from the terror of the Vega forces.

Written by the legendary Go Nagai and illustrated by 8KEY, Grendizer: U The Inception modernizes the iconic story of the lost prince who shoulders the responsibility to protect his new home from the same Empire that destroyed his last.

Featuring a prequel story by Tatsuto Higuchi not told before, this manga is an adaptation of the anime Grendizer U.

Go Nagai is an influential Japanese mangaka and anime creator, born on September 6, 1945, in Wajima, Japan. He is known for being one of the pioneers of the mecha and super robots genre in manga and anime. His most iconic work is Mazinger Z, released in 1972, which marked the beginning of a new era in science fiction and giant robot stories, inspiring generations of artists and creators.

Throughout his career, Nagai has created numerous highly successful series, including Devilman, Cutie Honey, Grendizer, and Demon Lord Dante, which have left an indelible mark on both Japanese and global popular culture. His visual and narrative style is characterized by a focus on violence, ambiguous morality, and the use of characters with extreme traits.

Shin Mazinger Zero, released in 2009, is a modern reinterpretation of Mazinger Z and was created by Yoshiaki Tabata and Yuuki Yogo, but under the supervision of Nagai. This project served to revive the legacy of Mazinger with a darker and more complex vision. Go Nagai's influence on manga and anime remains a fundamental pillar, being one of the most revered figures in the industry.
