(Tokyo, 1973) Active Japanese mangaka since 1991. Between this year and 1993, she published a series of short manga that matured her style, allowing her to publish her first long manga in 1994: “Geneimuso”. In 1997, her biggest success, “Fruits Basket”, appeared, which won the 25th Kodansha Manga Award for best shojo manga and was adapted into an anime in 2000. As in this manga, the style of this mangaka is characterized by her so-called “free talks” where she shares her opinions, self-criticism, feelings, etc.
