Mauricio Wacquez was born in Cunaco, in the Colchagua region, in 1939. Author of a brief narrative work that stood out from his first publication for the unmistakable beauty of his prose, the finesse in his ways of addressing the themes he deals with, the display of talent and narrative technique. He left Chile at the age of 33, first to Cuba and then to Spain, where he died in 2000, in the village of Calaceite, where he spent his last years of life. He published Cinco y una ficciones (1963), Toda la luz del mediodía (1965), Excesos (1971), Paréntesis (1975), Frente a un hombre armado (1981), Ella o el sueño de nadie (1983) and the unfinished Epifanía de una sombra (2000)
