In der vorliegenden Studie wird der Extrakt aus Phoenix Dactylifera L. auf sein Potenzial zur Verhinderung der Korrosion von Aluminium in saurem 1N HCl-Medium durch Messung des Gewichtsverlusts untersucht. Der Acetonitril-Extrakt von Phoenix Dactylifera L. enthält eine Vielzahl von Phytochemikalien wie Proteine, Aminosäuren, Kohlenhydrate, Phenole, Flavanoide, Phlobatannine, Chinine, Harze, Steroide und Triterpenoide. Diese Phytochemikalien werden an der Oberfläche von Metallplatten durch die in ihnen vorhandenen Heteroatome adsorbiert. Das Adsorptionsverhalten dieser Phytochemikalien auf der Oberfläche von Al-Platten entspricht der Langmuir-Adsorptionsisotherme. Der Wert der freien Gibb'schen Adsorptionsenergie beträgt -7,37 KJ mol-1, was auf eine spontane Physisorption der Extraktmoleküle auf der Oberfläche der Al-Platten hinweist.
