Born in 1982, Helen Hoang is an American novelist who was diagnosed in 2016 with autism spectrum disorder, previously known as Asperger's Syndrome.
Hoang grew up in Minnesota, later moving to California. As a child, she suffered from social anxiety and writing novels became her way of escaping. She trained in finance, a field in which she developed before dedicating herself to literature professionally.
She lives in San Diego with her husband and two children. Thanks to her daughter, who was diagnosed with autism, she discovered that she herself was autistic. Her experience led her to write The Kiss Quotient. The author has also published other titles such as The Love Test and The Heart Principle.
