Der Doppelgänger ist eine Erzählung von Fjodor Dostojewski, die nach dessen erstem gro en Erfolg Arme Leute Anfang Februar 1846 in der Zeitschrift Vaterländische Annalen erschien. Protagonist ist der schüchterne Beamte Jakow Goljadkin in Sankt Petersburg, der durch einen plötzlich auftauchenden Doppelgänger aus seinen Positionen verdrängt und am Ende seiner zwischen Realität und Einbildung oszillierenden Krankheitsgeschichte in eine Psychiatrie eingeliefert wird. Seinem Ebenbild gelingt dagegen der vom Original erträumte private und berufliche Aufstieg.
