Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) was a Spanish religious figure, theologian, and writer, founder of the Society of Jesus. His life was marked by a spiritual conversion after being wounded in battle, leading him to dedicate himself to study and religious practice. His thought deeply influenced Christian spirituality, focusing on discipline, contemplation, and service.

Among his most notable works is Spiritual Exercises (1522-1524), a text of mystical and pedagogical guidance that remains fundamental in Jesuit training and Christian life. His legacy transcends literature, as his work and his order have had a significant impact on education and spirituality worldwide.
