Leo Pinsker (nacido en 1821 en Tomaszów, Polonia, Imperio ruso [actualmente en Polonia]—fallecido el 21 de diciembre de 1891 en Odessa, Imperio ruso [actualmente en Ucrania]) fue un médico ruso-polaco, polemista y nacionalista judío pionero, precursor de Theodor Herzl y otros importantes líderes políticos.Sionistas.
Mientras ejercía la medicina en Odessa, Pinsker mantuvo un profundo interés en los asuntos de la comunidad judía . Se unió a laLa Sociedad para la Promoción de la Cultura entre los Judíos de Rusia , una organización asimilacionista fundada en 1863, defendía la educación laica para los judíos y la traducción de la Biblia y los libros de oraciones hebreos al ruso. Una advertencia dirigida a sus hermanos. Por un judío ruso";Autoemancipación ( 1884), que provocó fuertes reacciones, tanto críticas como elogiosas, por parte de los líderes judíos. En el panfleto sostenía que la única forma de restaurar la dignidad y la salud espiritual del pueblo judío residía en una patria judía.
